Local arts enthusiasts keen on uncovering Charlotte’s rich history, sports legacy, and vibrant arts scene flocked to QCCV’s cultural programs. With hundreds engaging at iconic venues like the MInt Museum, Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Historic Rosedale, and Charlotte Museum of History, QCCV quickly became one of Charlotte’s largest and most popular Meetup groups.

In May 2023, QCCV expanded its signature programming to include daily walking tours of Charlotte. This new venture was a natural evolution for QCCV, allowing us to share the most compelling insights from our deep-dive Meetup programs on Charlotte’s museums, cultural centers, heritage sites, and major attractions.
Our tour, UPTOWN FUNK: The Story of Charlotte, offers a unique and original perspective, providing visitors and new residents with an engaging introduction to the Queen City. At Queen City Culture Vultures (QCCV), our goal is to connect audiences with quality cultural experiences. We focus on developing and sharing best practices in arts programming, including walking tours, to promote cultural sustainability.
Our Journey:
- August 2020: Launched the QCCV Meetup™ utilizing specific techniques and quickly became one of Charlotte’s largest Meetups with over 4,000 members. Our group proudly represents Charlotte’s diverse population and has organized over 250 cultural programs, both independently and in partnership with the city’s main attractions, museums, and heritage sites.
- August 2023: Introduced the QCCV Walking Tour Service, featuring the signature UPTOWN FUNK Tour loop. This tour has earned a 5-star rating and is a top recommendation on TripAdvisor™ for visitors and new residents.
- Spring 2024: Began to offer group tours and engaged over 1,500 students from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and local private schools through our educational tours.
- April 2024: Initiated reciprocal ticketing with The Bechtler Museum of Art and Historic Rosedale, contributing to the development of a vibrant cultural ecosystem and creating a comprehensive Charlotte traveler experience blueprint.
- May 2024: Founded the National City Walking Tour Challenge, collaborating our walking tour services to over 65 cities
- August 2024: Became the first cultural asset in Charlotte to offer regularly scheduled Spanish-speaking tours.
